MITI 3.1.1 Coding Workshop plus Skill Development Coaching
Workshop Description: This training will introduce participants to the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity Coding System (MITI), version 3.1.1. Using presentations, readings, transcripts, audiotape, DVD and group practice, participants will learn to recognize and categorize common elements of practitioner or clinician competence in Motivational Interviewing. Participants for this workshop should have experience in Motivational Interviewing and a desire to learn the MITI 3.1 for supervisory, training or research purposes. This course will include large group exercises and individual or small group coding practice. Pre-workshop readings will be sent out and there will be an option for a free follow-up conference call for inter-rater reliability.
Participants will receive feedback of their coding to enhance speed and accuracy of learning, will practice generating clinician feedback based on coded interview segments and, contingent upon in-session proficiency demonstration, will be ready to use the MITI 3.1 coding system by the end of this workshop. Participants will also gain experience with skill coaching and be prepared to develop collaborative MI skill improvement plans.
